PS5 CPU actually slower than expected (ryzen 4700s review)

I don't know if this is disappointing or impressive given the games on the system.

people are starting to get their hands on AMD's left over PS5 chips that they they're selling. The reason these chips weren't used to make a ps5 is because the GPU part of the SoC failed validation but the CPU passed 100% - so it can't be used for a ps5 because it doesn't meet the minimum Gpu performance.

Testing shows that the ps5 CPU is about on par with a ryzen 2700x (though in some tests it falls 5% behind the 2700x) . Even though on paper it looks like a 3700x with just a bit lower clocks, the clocks are low enough to drag it's performance down a whole generation.

isnt ps5 supposed to use zen2 but with half the cache? and cache is big reason for gaming speed on zen.

I'm pretty sure they said Zen3, if it was Zen 2 it should be much slower than the 2700x instead of matching it because it's running significantly lower clocks thanbthe 2700x
