I need to start thinking about some more storage so I’ve had a quick look but thought I’d ask here. Looking at getting a 2TB, but what should I choose? Samsung/Crucial or one of this cheap Chinese jobs from the rain forest?

Stick with a branded one with a heatsink. There's been some deals for the WD SN850X and Samsung 980 Pro on HotUKDeals lately for £120-130 for 2TB, worth keeping an eye out.

I use ElecGear PS5 NVMe SSD Heatsink. It's massive.

Needs to be over 5000mbs write I think off the top of my head but definitely needs a heat sink, as TheVoice says there’s been plenty of offers for 2tb ones that you don’t need to go to a nondescript Chinese one

I use the SN850X with heatsink in mine. Didn't want to mess around adding a heatsink and the one that comes fitted to it, fits inside the ps5 fine.

I think Eurogamer did some analysis of these a while back. That might give you some pointers on speed Vs value.

Fitting the heatsinks is fine and saves a few quid

Shop on price over brand/potential performance. So long as the drive meets minimum requirements, no one drive is going to perform any better.
Make sure you've got the heatsink attached and make sure the trap-door still closes with the heatsink (as a closed trap-door offers the best thermal efficiency).

I bought a 4Tb Crucial P3 Plus. It’s under the recommended speed but seems to work fine. I added an old heatsink from a gigabyte drive.
