I noticed 2 weeks ago I was on my desktop and both my monitors when blank, for about 30 seconds. Then they came back on. Nothing appeared to have changed. But this had happened to me before and I immediately clicked on the geforce experience icon and sure enough it started updating.
When geforce experience finished updating I noticed a few of my settings had been reset. Most noticably the nvidia colour settings and g-sync had been turned off. I reset the colours and re-enabled gsync to work both full screen and windowed mode, as I'd had that set before.
All was going ok but I noticed that in some games menus I used to get a little flicker with g-sync. Since this had happened I wasn't getting any flicker at all and I started to wonder if g-sync was actually on. On my main gsync monitor, Dell S2716DG there isnt any menu indication that says gsync mode is on and working. So I downloaded the nvidia g-sync pendulum demo that tests gsync with vsync on, vsync off and gsync on. When I first ran the demo gsync option wasnt selectable, confirming that gsync wasnt working.
Luckily there had been an update in driver for my card. So I installed it over the top of my old drivers and ran the demo again, now g-sync option was selectable and working.
I don't know why 1. geforce experience forces people to update it, and 2. why it has to mess with any current settings at all, especially when its just updating itself and not the driver.
Anyways I thought I'd let anyone else know in case something similar had happened for them.
