I'm trying to help a relative bring a Belkin wifi access point into use so that visiting wifi users, myself included, can access the net.
He's running XP and has an NTHell usb cable moden, a '250' I think, which has a single ethernet port.
I've managed to access the cable modem config page via 192.168.100.1 Not that there's anything to config.
The Belkin AP is an F5D7130. I have my mac lappy with me to access it via ethernet to change settings.
After trying various things (and not really knowing what I was doing) I've now reset the Belkin to factory setttings. Not that that did me any good.
I can now see, from my iphone and lappy, the belkin54g on a wifi search. My iphone shows n IP address, using the Belkin, of 169.254.17.30 (255.255.0.0) but doesn't seem to retain this. Something similar is goin on with my lappy and neither can connect to the internet.
I don't think anything is configurable on the NTL modem. But I'm confident of changing whatever is needed on teh Belkin config - if some kind person tells me what needs doing.
Help! And thank you for reading.
John
