Hi peeps,

Not had much joy searching for help on this, seem to only find stuff relating to the full fat PS3s or problems with firmware updates/PSN updates, and so far they haven’t helped.

I have noticed that my friends list takes ages to update fully, sometimes it doesn’t even load everyone up – I’ve only got a select few on there, so it’s not like there’s lots to load, less than ten actually! If I leave it for 3-5 minutes the missing people will appear, but don’t show correctly – I cannot see their avatar and/or the play time status, if I attempt to message them I get an 800A340 error iirc, or something like that, they can see me as ‘online’ but if they send me a message it doesn’t arrive and they don’t get an error to say otherwise.

I’ve tried to access the option screen to rebuild the database, but cannot get the slim to do the double beep thing, it’ll do one, then another one 5-10 seconds later, then power off; when it comes back up it has reset the HDMI output from 1080p to 576 (or whatever it is).

Anyone else experiencing problems – I had hoped it was just caused by the huge traffic loads for MAG, but will gladly accept any advice on clearing this – I seemed to work-around the issue by deleting and re-adding a friend, but that was only temporary as the problem came back after I started the PS3 back up again.

Hoping I don’t have to do anything that will lose my save games – don’t really want to use the PS3’s backup tool, as it’ll want to copy every damn thing, and it’s only AC2’s save I need to pull off (as it’s locked!).

When i was on Virgin their DNS was awful with the PS3 so i'd very strongly recommend OpenDNS, but then, Virgin was terrible with the PS3 in general. Had much more luck with Be.

Thanks Streeteh, I'll give it a shot - thanks for all the other replies too, glad it's affecting you lot too :D

Update: still having issues, even with OpenDNS :(

Seems to be working fine today - strange, hey ho, first problem I've had with PSN so no worries, but annoying nonetheless.

Quite liking MAG though :)
