PSP Internet

Ive just got a psp, and im having trouble setting up the internet on it, ive entered my settings in network settings but then when i test the connection it says the WLAN switch is not turned on?? What does this mean and how do i rectify it?

On the bottom left hand side (I think) there should be a switch which you can switch (up i think again) to turn on Wifi, little orange LED should come on when in use.
