I've ordered myself a new PSP 3000; I know I'm very late to the party but I really fancy some of the rpg exclusives.

These are the games I fancy:

Jeanne D'arc
Disgaea Afternoon of Darkess
Final Fantasy Tactics
Brave Story: New Traveler
Tactics: Ogre
Sid Meier's Pirates

Now, I understand I need some memory, does it matter what I get as it all seems a little confusing. Do I stick to Sony branded? Should I get 8GB or 16GB or more?

Also I take it it's region free so I assume I can order some of the game from the US and Play Asia?

Any other game recommendations?

You'll only need large amounts of storage is your planning on buying the games off the PS Store... if not and you'll just be using retail UMD games then you'll only need it for save games and the PSP may even come with a 512mb stick to get you started....

I've used SanDisk and Sony branded memory sticks, both have been fine. Looking around you can get a 4GB SanDisk one for under £10 which seems reasonable.

It certainly is region free for games.

Yes its region free and as far as I know Brave story never came to europe? I have a copy of it myself but the store I went to had bought an import of it I think (it was second hand).

I don't know of any other good RPG's as I'm not a massive fan of them but you might want to pick up Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker as well as the original MGS. You can also get the Resident Evil games and Dino Crisis on the US PS Store. :)

Always used the sandisk sticks myself and never had an issue. I seem to recall that all of them are made by the same company and rebranded (but not certain on this).

Avoid any sticks off ebay as there used to be loads of fakes on there. Also PSP is region free, so you can get the games from abroad etc.

EDIT: I think they just dropped the price of the PSP3000 to $130 in USA, no idea if price is about to be dropped here as well, worth bearing in mind.

Best RPG by miles is Persona 3 Portable, get it on the US store and transfer it over.

Yeah, that's on my list now!

Yeah, it was reading about that then the EU PR which said they've no intention of reducing prices here as people are still buying it that finally pushed me to look at getting one.

I got a reasonable deal I think:

Sony PSP 3000 Slim & Lite Blue Console
Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince PSP
Assassins Creed II Bloodlines PSP
Superbad UMD
Hancock UMD
Invizimals including Camera & Trap PSP

All for £133 incl. shipping. I'll sell most of the bundle so it knocks quite a bit off what I'm paying. I've also ordered Sid Meier's Pirates and Tactics Ogre Let us Cling Together Premium Edition which hopefully will be enough for now...

Though Persona 3 is very very tempting.

Very very tempted to grab a PSP again just for Tactics Orge, but if I do it would have to be the go as the 3000 gives me cramp :(

That is assuming the game in available for download?

Just checked on my PS3 and it's there for £27.99

This thread is making me want to pick one up too, I've got my PSPGo but the layout is too cramped and the games are ridiculously expensive. Plus I've got 2 or 3 Pro Duo's lying around and when these PSP's are going at the prices they're going at it would be rude not to. :p

Well, Tactics Ogre Premium edition and Sid Meiers Pirates is here. According to the courier my psp is an hour away but my memory card isn't available to pick up until tomorrow!

Is there any spare memory on the thing for a save or two?

A quick update.

Got my memory stick yesterday and sat down for an hour or so to see what Tactics Ogre was like.

When I eventually went to sleep my save file said 7.5 hours... All in one evening.

Anyone sat on the fence all I have to say is what an amazing game; I just can't stop playing... go get it right now!
