My PSP case was cracked so I ordered a clear faceplate from the bay. It arrived today and was fairly easy to swap with the instructions included, but now the analogue stick is permanently registereing as being in the down position and I dont know what could eb causing it - any ideas???

sounds like you have partially disconnected or broken the ribbon cable the goes to the analogue nub

i need to replace my nub soon as i also registers in the down postion, although mine still works in the other directions, just when i let go it goes to down position (nub it centered)

it seems pretty common for this to happen to the nubs but as ours was working berfore you dismantled it, it sounds like youve made a booboo when reassembling

Yeah the nubs centred and it thinks it's in the down position - I used to get the same thing but it thought it was to the right, but a quick flick and it centred again!!!

I dont know about the ribbon cable as there isnt one going from the analogue nub thingy.

I actually bought a complete clear case but there were no instructions on how to change the back, only the faceplate. I googled it buy couldn't find anything, so if anyone knows of a good guide then please let me have a link and I shall pass the stories of your greatness down to my grandkids ;)

Can't help you with the backplate but i've had plenty of problems with my analogue stick and have taken it apart 3 times now, so it might be worth a go.

Basically it has 2 plates in a cross, with a pin running through the middle which is connected to the analogue nub, as you move it the plates move which is registered as movement to the machine.

I've found that its very easy for the plates to pop off the pin, meaning that it could've just slid down and is registering that way. Its fairly straight forward to take the analogue stick apart, there's a video on google video thats very helpful, its a bit tricky to get it back together again but with a bit of practice it gets easier.

Might be worth taking it apart and having a look.

I think there are a few videos on You Tube on how to do it, but I've never been able to find a step by step guide on taking the whole thing apart.

Edit: Do a search on Google for PSPMOD. First link on there might help a bit.

I had this problem when I removed my case to clean it all.

Strangly in the end the problem was that the case wasn't screwed down enough on the analouge side. When I tightened it it worked fine.
