Good day people.

My daughter recently asked me for a gameboy (Shes watching a lot of 80/90's movies) which im sure i had somewhere in the loft but just cannot find one.

I did however find my old PSP the original release version PSP-1000, i have been struggling to charge it or even get it working unable to find the original charger i found everything i had in the house but nothing worked.
I ended up amazoning a replacement cable but im still having issues powering it up.

I managed to get to on intermittingly but was displaying no charge lights when switched off when i eventually powered it successfully it died once cable was removed, also the battery health display listed no battery details at all.

I have tried reddit/youtube searched etc and found various faults but wanted to ask her if anybody's had this specific issue?

Ive seen dodgy charge ports , batterys dead and also CMOS battery replacements too.

I'm hoping to revive this, them old gameboys are going for crazy money :o

If you're still using the original battery, it's probably no good. You can rebuild them with new cells, or just buy a new 3rd party replacement (what I did). I would now avoid a new old stock OEM battery, or anything claiming to be, as they have been out of production for some time and probably are also no good.

I can't recall if the 1000 can power up with just the cable and no battery in - did you try that?
Ive not tried that yet, just fetched the psp into work as we have a battery tester and the battery was jammed right in there looks to expanded 50% bubbled in fact so i think that explains a lot :D

I will test it when im home without the battery is removed, ive ordered a new battery from amazon just really hope it works!

Hello guys just a little update i had some issues with shipping etc but it came when i was away and i finally got round to trying it out.

Instantly the new battery worked straight away it came almost fully charged and the recharger via cable is working perfectly.

Its been volleyed all over my loft so i was very surprised it still worked well happy , i daughter tried it for about 5 seconds and not bothered so it was a complete waste anyways but i might get a huge memory card sorted and get the whole game collection on there as my homebrew stuff still works a treat

Can anyone recommend a decent replacement battery for a PSP 1000?

There are dozens out there and I can’t tell which are more credible replacements due to all the mixed reviews :(

this is the one i ordered its been working perfectly
