Hi,

Imported a PSP from Japan when they first came out - Not played it for a long while but just managed to get hold of Tomb Raider quite cheaply so dug out the PSP to have a blast... I was told to update the PSP... I thought, if I'm going to do that, instead of using the version on the UMD I may as well just download the very latest off of the internet... Just wondering, however, if I download off of the European site will the firmware be okay for my Japan PSP? Can any firmware be used? Want to get the latest one off of the English site if possible.

Many Thanks.

Dan.

You have to use the Jap firmware for a Jap PSP.
Best bet (if you can), is just to use the update feature on the PSP with wireless internet access.

To start with, they said you need to use an Jap update on a Jap PSP etc... but now it appears that you can use any update on any PSP.
I know of loads of people who have used the latest UK update on their Jap PSP with no problems at all :).

is it a 1.5? if it is sell it for stupid money on ebay and buy a new 1 form *** shop

not anymore, with the recent release of the new downgrader. will kill the value of 1.5 psp's

btw: i have a usa and a jap psp, my jap one is kept up to date with the latest uk firmware. never had any probs :)

Hey...

It was the very original firmware (Whether that's 1.5 or before that) however I have upgraded it now. Wish I hadn't though - Tomb Raider is painful to play on the PSP... The camera and controls are just too much to battle on the small console... A bit disappointed really - Gotta hope the retailer will let me swap for another game (Which I expect to be extremely doubtful)... Failing that it might be a part exchange... Given the game a few hours now and really am not getting on with it at all!
