Hello,

Thinking of getting a PSP, mostly for multimedia reasons and can't see any real reason to wait a month for the new one version.

Just wondered if anybody had any thoughts?

Cheers,

David

if you want homebrew then don't get the new one (not yet at least)
Like he said, if you want homebrew don't wait, if you don't mind not having homebrew, wait for it. However it'll be more expensive and you'll only get a few added extras such as lighter weight and brighter screen etc.

The release date for the UK is the 5th September for £130, check on some websites and you'll see it there. If you want it for multimedia then surely the TV out thing is quite important, and like I said I think its £10 more and its out next week.

i also have read that it comes out in europe on the 5th but we have had no details in at work about bundles etc .etc
might be a slight chance us europeans get spiderman and simpsons edition

Cheers guys.

I forgot about the whole homebrew stuff. May be a swaying factor, I like to experiment with my toys.

Most of the hardware changes seem more cosmetic apart from the TV out which I'm unlikely to make use of.

May have to get a shiny white PSP sooner rather than later now!

yes

new one will be better

and if it isnt, the old one will drop in price

win win really for waiting a couple of weeks

Yea the new ones are likely to have a later TA-082 motherboard which is probably impossible to write to flash0, though there are a lot of devs on the scene. ;) Id just save money and get a good as new 2nd hand one for next to nothing.

Battery life will be better and the load times on games will be better. For the sake of a week and a tenner I would get the new one.

Homebrew is very overrated on the PSP IMO.

I'm gonna trade in my launch day USA one this week if I can or just get what I can for it and use the money towards the new version.

Just read this hands on at gamespot with the new PSP,http://uk.gamespot.com/features/617...clk=multimodule&tag=multimodule;picks;story;1
The new Sony PSP is a nice upgrade over the original model. The lighter system feels much more comfortable in hand and the internal memory upgrade has also improved game performance. The changes aren't drastic enough to get current PSP owners to replace their current systems, but potential buyers leaning towards the PSP will find the new system difficult to resist. Check out our first preview to find out more about the official retail packages shipping next month.

I still have a new Firmware 1.0 japanese PSP in my filing cabinet, only switched it on the check the firmware. Had it since not long after the japanese launch :D

Read a review of the new one, seems a lot quicker with the extra ram onboard. Very tempted
