Had a play on one ages ago with pro evo, looked good but its more the other things like WI-Fi(think it has that built in)? movies/music etc games is a bonus. Any other things it can be used for guys?

If you will use the media functions it beats any handheld competitors hands down. Wifi is very easy to use, but I find the web browser a bit lacking and have never managed to get the RSS stuff working (although not tried very hard).

Don't want to comment too much on the games as I only own 4 at the moment, which I love, but not looked into the range of games too much recently. Depends on whether you are a fan of the PS2 games that a lot of titles are based/inspired on.

For £50 it is a bargain I would say, but only if you think you will use the features.

Now the Playstation store is launched (can be accessed from PC and transferred to PSP via USB) you can get games demos and some classic games on it as well, for decentish prices I think.

If you own a PS3 it is no brainer.

No (I assume you mean firefox), and no you can't plug in mass storage devices. You can only use Memory Stick Pro Duo.

Yer I meant firefox. What browser does it use then? Shame about the external, does it have an internal HDD? Only prob with the Pro Duo is your limited to 8GB I think as I was thinking off using it while traveling.

No internal memory (apart from the embedded stuff for OS). 8gb goes a long way when you consider an encoded film or other legal content looks amaizng on the screen at maybe 400mb-600mb size. I own 2 or 3 cards (1gb, 2gb etc) and just have them in a travel case with the PSP.

Yer surpose so, what about the internet side mate?

Cheers for the quick replies :D

Browser is OK, once you set up favourites etc, However the limited RAm means you get a lot of out of memory errors when browsing image intensive pages. I have the slim and lite so no idea if this is improved (I am gonna check it out in a sec). I think it has RSS support but I need to test that (will do today now I think). No Flash support last time I checked. A killer addition would be youtube support, but can't see that happening soon.

It is tabbed browsing though which is nice (3 tabs max I think). Much better than the DS browser which is crap, better than a lot of phone's default browsers, just becuse of tabbed browsing. But compared to a more dedicated device (itouch etc) it is lacking. I have mine set up with BBC news homepage and radiotimes, but in practice I never use it in the home as Laptop is more convenient for browsing, and I don't travel much but if you are near wifi areas a lot I can see it coming into it's own. (say you have a BTOpenzone account or something). I have one, but never tested it.

A lot of this is based on my old PSP (which is the model you are thinking of buying) so I don't knoe howmuch has changed in the new slim and lite, but I imagine not much as they both use the same firmware.

You can do a lot more funcky stuff with dodgy firmwares etc, but can't go into that, and I just use the latest official Sony firmware. I prefer to use it how it was deisgned rather than faffing around.

Edit: A quick read shows the RSS thing is for audio podcasts and video podcasts. I was more after text based stuff like news.
Edit: Have a look here http://store.playstation.com/store/index.vm dfor stuff you can get legitimatley from Sony.

8gig duo stick, PSP games are around 300mb... can emulate legal games too.

Dont know what you are playing but they are not around 300mb size, some older ones are. unlocking homebrew is brilliant as you can stream music over wifi, listen to online radio, emulators are a blast. the only downside is you might not be able to use PSP download service fora while.

They were older PSP games, haven't got anything new for a while. Am stuck on the DS. Just had a look, 700MB or so now.. Homebrew is ace and there is a lot of different things you can get for it. For 50 it is worth buying for fun, there is a lot you can do with it, even for some .mpgs and photos. Music.

posting from PSP.

Gmail loads fast.
bbc news as well.
engadget looks messed up.
OcUK forums ok too.

can't think what else to test, unless OP has any requests.

Thanks, whats the browser like?

Is the own differance between the newer model just the size?

In terms of browsing, playing music and video, yes (there is a few more functions like video out and faster game caching times, but nothing major imo). I'm a sucka for new tech sometimes which is why I got the new one.

Browsing seems faster, but it has been so long since I used the browser I m imagining it, I reckon.

Here is a shot of it in action:

Looks good, where is the toolbars and address bar etc? Is there some sort off KB to enter address' in?

Yes, you press triangle and the address bar appears at the top, and bookmarks, history and various other stuff at the bottom.

You add the actual addresses using the dpad to move around a virtual phone style keybaord. Not ideal as it has no T9 (predictive text), but there is loads of shortcuts for http:// .com .co.uk and loads of variations. I am pretty slow at it at the moment, but I will get faster. If you have a 360 think it is sort of like adding text like that, but without a full keybaord.
