Pstn phones

Your mobile phone probably already has VOIP/wifi calls at home anyway so operates exactly like a digital phone .

Is it possible to plug 4 phones into a new digital phone line. Basically We dont want to change or have wireless mylarkey.
Are they 4 physically different phones? i.e. ones you plug in to different phone extensions around the house? If so, no. As there is likely only 1 phone connector on the router available.

I'm with BT. I'll assume the other routers other ISP's send out are similar, so in my setup I have 1 (ptsn) dect base unit that I plug in to the router. Then the 4 handsets work with the base unit like they used to.

Probably not using the ISP-provided digital voice line. However instead of taking a digital voice line from your ISP you could just take out several numbers from a dedicated VOIP service like https://www.dial9.co.uk/ and use multiple analog VOIP adapters like http://www.grandstream.com/products/gateways-and-atas/analog-telephone-adaptors/product/ht802.

** edit ** Ignore this suggestion - I assumed you were talking about separate phone lines, not just four physical phones into one line.

If the 4 existing phones are on extension wiring to the master socket could you not wire that house wiring in to the VOIP socket. Then the problem will be down to the REN and if the VOIP device can drive it.

you bought a BT digital voice handset ? (could you have linked several to the hub)

if you want good quality do you more or less have to bin existing phones - thinking of hard of hearing relations who'll be migrated soon ?

NO they gave me one for free. I've only ever used it once and the sound quality was about the same as my mobile phone

the pdf says
You can add up to five Digital Home Phone handsets to the hub.
Registering an extra handset 1 Turn the extra handset on. You’ll see the registration screen. 2 Follow set-up steps 1 to 3 (see page 4). Tip: if you’ve changed your system PIN, you’ll need to enter it while setting up.
Deregister a handset 1 From the menu, go to Settings and press Select. Then scroll down to Registration and press Select . 2 Scroll down to Deregister and press Select. Choose the handset you want to deregister and press Select . 3 If you’ve changed your system PIN, you’ll need to enter it and press OK .
Transfer a call If you have more than one Digital Voice handset, you can transfer calls to your other handsets. 1 When on a call, press Options and scroll down to Transfer call and press Select . 2 Choose which handset to transfer the call to and then press Call . 3 Once the other handset picks up, press Transfer

I guess all handsets will be linked to one number though which is probably assigned to your router somehow, so if your on one, I wonder what happens if someone picks up another and tries to make a call

Actually ditching one wouldn't be a problem. So there are only three. Dinning room, kitchen and bedroom.

commenyt here suggests 3 should work
The Digital Voice hub has a REN of 4 and on my installation it supports two hard wired extensions and (with the correct capacitor) an 80D external bell. Your splitter looks very sensible and should work fine.

Are they also giving you a FREE adapter, or wireless digital voice phone ? maybe latter will be better quality.

thanks , does look like BT has a single model of digital voice phone, plus doesn't have bluetooth that would be good for hearing aid application.
can't see any third party phones, or details of how a VOIp phone could be configured to work with BT digital voice - no standardisation
