Ive just got my 8800 and it says it needs 12v rail to be 24a but on my PSU ive got a +12v1 and a +12v2 and they're both 16a so is this card gonna work?

Also im running a AMD 4200 x2

yeah 2x16a = 32a
/Nationwide man-voice: "doesn't work like that". You need the maximum combined +12v output (which isn't always the same thing, the rating for each rail may be maximum through that rail before it will trip or if the other is not providing power).

What is the model of the PSU?

I have had poor quality power supplies go on me
One took out: mobo , cpu , hard drive , graphics card
only survivor was the ram.

Its the old question "Do you feeling lucky punk?"

You might get away with it , or it could go and destroy everything in your PC

Depends on how you feel about gambling

Question to frank Drebbin
cop: Frank do you gamble?
Frank Drebbin: "Yeah , everytime I eat out"

^ I dont gamble with electronic devices myself , replacing everything within my PC once was enough for me.

I personally would not risk it.

It's up to you but in your shoes i'd probably consider leaving selling the 8600 (if you already haven't) to go towards a PSU or if you really must wait 2 weeks to get the cash then don't run the PC.

Q-TEC's are generally considered to be that bad. :(

Corsair 450 - has a 33amp 12v rail so will be fine: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...&name=Corsair VX 450W ATX PSU (CMPSU-450VXUK)

Will be around £59 after delivery and comes with a 5 year warranty.

quick question the topic of PSU's, would a Q6600 OC'd to 3ghz, 2X2GB Corsair Dominator Ram, GTX280, 500GB HD, DVD DL-RW and a like 5 case fans run on my Corsair 650w?? what if i wanted to add 1-2 extra HD's would it still be fine?

ok, one question is, (i know this will sound really stupid but here we go) do PSU's like this come with all the cables. e.g. the white 4 pin plus the 24 pin mobo and PCI connectors?

See i sound like a n00b now lol.

Yep. You should get all the connectors you need. :)

Probably a 24pin mainboard connector, 12v, molex's, floppy, sata's and PCI-E too.

Corsair website list of connections HERE - bottom left.

It only has one PCI-E connector so if you're using an 8800GTX or Ultra you'll probably need a molex to PCI-E adapter. That way you will have two available for connecting up the card.
