PSU 12v rail question

/Nationwide man-voice: "doesn't work like that". You need the maximum combined +12v output (which isn't always the same thing, the rating for each rail may be maximum through that rail before it will trip or if the other is not providing power).
What is the model of the PSU?
i wouldn't put it on that psu tbh...
Q-Tec power supplies are probably the worst you can get, I wouldnt risk any critical hardware on it.
Get something like a Corsair VX 450, sure its £40 odd quid but it will be the best think you can do for your PC

One took out: mobo , cpu , hard drive , graphics card
only survivor was the ram.
Its the old question "Do you feeling lucky punk?"
You might get away with it , or it could go and destroy everything in your PC

It's up to you but in your shoes i'd probably consider leaving selling the 8600 (if you already haven't) to go towards a PSU or if you really must wait 2 weeks to get the cash then don't run the PC.
Q-TEC's are generally considered to be that bad.

Yep. You should get all the connectors you need.
Probably a 24pin mainboard connector, 12v, molex's, floppy, sata's and PCI-E too.
Corsair website list of connections HERE - bottom left.
It only has one PCI-E connector so if you're using an 8800GTX or Ultra you'll probably need a molex to PCI-E adapter. That way you will have two available for connecting up the card.
