Hello!

I'm just starting a new build which consists of:

M5A97 Pro AM3+
1090t
4gb 1600 Patriot
8800gts OC
2 * Sata Hard Drives (80gb and 160gb, later replaced by new 1tb)
DVD RW Drive
Couple of 120mm fans

I have a Jeantech atx 2.0 500w power supply, used since 2006 in my old system and working perfectly up until now. Would that be adequate for my new build?

Also, i see this motherboard has no IDE connectors. Am I unable to use my IDE Hard drives and dvd rw drive?

Many thanks for any replies.

Hi there,

May I ask, are you about to buy that kit or have you already got it?

I would strongly recommend a new PSU, Jeantech aren't known for quality and that CPU and graphics card will be relatively power hungry.

As for IDE hard drives and DVD drives, indeed that board doesn't have an IDE connectors. You would need a different board if you wanted to run such drives, or use an active IDE to SATA adapter.

Thanks for the reply. As I suspected really. Yes I've already bought everything, except the card which i'll be using temporarily from my old system until next month. I'll pick up a decent 600w then, and an IDE adapter for the transfer of files to SATA.

Thanks!

Anyone know how good/bad the onboard HD audio is on the m5a97 pro? I have an audigy 2 sound card from my old system, would that be better?
