I need a PSU to run:

X1950 Pro 512MB
2.8GHz Dual Core (Pentium D 820)
2GB Ram
2 HDDs
2XDVD drives

Can anyone recommend something? I'm trying to keep the price down but hopefully get something good enough to last a while, even if I upgrade to Quad Core and a DX10 card early next year. Can I do this with £40-£50?

You're best pushing your budget £20 more and going for the Corsair HX 520w. It is an absolute gem and you'll be able to keep it for future rigs unless you're going to go SLI/Crossfire.

Any opinions on the Huntkey 550W?

In that case you'll have to search for an unbranded module.. Not a problem but they might not be as efficient as the branded ones. You do get what you pay for. Personally, I would never skimp on a PSU. Too much rides on them.

There are actually a number of options in the £40-50 category that don't entail settling for an unbranded supply (in order of preference).

1. Corsair vx450w - It's due on sale any time now and it has a single 33A 12v rail.

2. Antec Earthwatts 430w - It has a combined 30A on the 12v rails.

3. 400w Enermax Liberty - It has a combined 30A on its 12v rails.

4. Silverstone Element 400w (ST40EF) - It has a combined 28A on its 12v rails.

5. Seasonic S12II 430w (it can be had for £51 to £53) - 30A combined on its 12v rails.

30A is often touted as a figure which will ensure your system can be run with any single graphics card, so they should all be suitable (I think even the 28A on the Silverstone is enough given its quality).

I've just looked up some reviews of this unit, it seems great so I think I'll wait for it :D
Thanks for all the replies :)
