Well following on from the help and advice I got in my first thread asking about the system as a whole. I braved the crowds yesterday and went down to the new shop, came away happy with the kit, spent the afternoon building and troubleshooting weird faults. Ultimately after suspecting the PSU for a while, then trying a friends PSU, it appears my old PSU is faulty, his worked reliably.
I was initially looking at the OCZ ZS550W as it was available locally for collection today, but then I read more reviews about it and it didn't seem very good. So I think I'd rather look to get something better and reliable for what I need, even if I have a to wait a couple of days.
So I need a new PSU to power the following, reliably, with the potential to let me over clock a bit in the future (yes I know I'd need a different cpu fan when I do).
YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £159.95
1 x Samsung S24B300HL 23.6" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black £149.99
1 x Sapphire HD 7850 1024MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card w/ FARCRY3, Nexuiz & Sleeping Dogs PC Games £149.99
1 x Intel 330 Series 120GB 2.5" SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Hard Drive - Retail £83.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £81.98
1 x GeIL Black Dragon 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD316GB1600C11DC) **OcUK Exclusive** £39.95
1 x Akasa AK-CC7118HP01 K25 Low Profile CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156) £11.99
Total : £679.93.
Due to a few discounts/promotions I managed to get it for £60 less than that and I'm pretty happy with what I got for the money.
I already have an Antec P180 case, DVD drive, and 2 x HDD's, and an old monitor to now use as my second monitor. The case is quite big, and the PSU is mounted at the bottom, which did lead to some creative cable routing on my old PSU, to reach far enough.
