Hi all

I've currently got an "XFX 850W XXX Edition Modular PSU - 13.5cm Fan 80plus Silver Certified" bought in April 2012 which began to make a rubbing noise from the fan and I temporarily fixed it as per this thread:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18477928

However, its started to do it quite often when I turn on the computer so I'm not happy with it at all and I'm going to RMA it. It does tend to settle down when the computer has been on but IMHO it shouldn't do it at all.

I don't want to be without my PC so I'm going to buy a new PSU and get a refund. That way I won't be stuck waiting for a replacement.

So I'd like a little help please, based on my spec's as per my sig, which is a good replacement PSU, I want modular and around 100 quid.

Thanks
Neil

Just to add PSU calculators come out saying I need 750w minimum so ideally want something 850w or more like I have, and quiet would be nice :) ;)

Thanks for the list - I'm not touching XFX again after this one, plus thats not modular.

The OCZ looks interesting particularly as its Gold certified, are they rated PSU's or is it just better to stick with a well known decent brand like Corsair?

Thanks so far guys I'll look into them.

Passey - not under 100, around 100, maybe around 120 tops :)

However my current XFX was 95 just under a year ago - mind you the fact it has issues doesn't say much lol!

Yes I have Xfire 7950's plus 5 HDD, BD and DVD - the Thermaltake PSU calc said 750w-ish, ASUS reckoned 1100w :o

I'd like a little breathing room so 850w seems the sweet spot.

Done a bit of reading up decided I may pay a bit more and get a Gold standard PSU.

I narrowed it down to the Seasonic or the OCZ, both the 850w 80plus Gold versions. There seems little in it between these two, but reviews say the seasonic may be a struggle with its cables in a full tower case, but that the OCZ cables are quite generous. So I think the OCZ it is.....only issue is a few reviews for it on here say the cpu cable is silly short, anyone know if it would be ok in my HAF932 with the PSU located at the bottom?
