Looking for a bit of advice as to whether my current PSU is powerful enough (for the time being) or if I need to upgrade.

Currently I'm using a Corsair RM650x to run the following build

i7 5820k
X99-SLI
32gb corsair ram
1 x 256 ssd
2 x 1tb hhd
1 x 4tb hhd
GTX 960

everything is at stock speed. I'm looking at adding a 1080 along with the 960 (this system is primarily used for 3d rendering with octane), will the RM650x be enough or do I need to upgrade?

cheers

I think with GTX 1080 added you will be using around 600w depending on other stuff you havent listed such as any other add on cards, usb devices, fans and so on... You can try using your current psu, if it doesnt work then you can upgrade it...

Thanks,

Got no other addon cards, running 5 fans and just usb keyboard and mouse

If I eventually upgrade to 2 1080's do you know what sort of wattage PSU I should be looking at? would 750/800 be ok or would I need more?

I think 850w quality brand should be sufficient with a slight headroom as you wouldnt want to be running your psu to its full capacity...
