Hi guys,

Need to upgrade my psu.

Been using a corsair tx650 for many many years. It died last night

Need a new one. I’m not really a heavy gamer. CSS and Warzone are the only games I play. Maybe Borderlands every now and then. Mainly use it for watching movies/tv shows, work, YouTube and all other use.

Under £100 would be ideal.

Thanks

here you go

Ryzon 5 3600
B450 Tomahawk Max
Team group vulcan 2X8gb DDR4 3600mhz dual channel
Gigabyte RX590
and few SSD

Nothing special. I do intend to upgrade gpu later on. That’ll be after summer holidays once back from abroad.

I'd suggest a minimum of 750 if you're upgrading to a x070 or x080 class card, preferably 850 for more headroom. 1000/1200 is only what I'd get for a 5090, which I assume you don't plan on.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £108.98 (includes delivery: £3.99)

Thanks for that guys. Yea not worth skimping on psu as it will future proof me for a while.

As for gpu, will not be spending big.

Thanks all

If you want to save a few quid, have a look at CWT. They're a less well known OEM, so they tend to fly under the radar. I don't think OCUK carries them, but you can pick up the 800w gold for about £80.

This isn't a bad shout, but do be aware they often offer much shorter warranties.

CWT will also make as good of a PSU as the company they're dealing with is willing to invest, they've made stellar units for the likes of Corsair and a few other big names but they (like most companies) have released some cack too.

I assume that the model names of the CWT PSUs correspond with the platform names listed on SPL's tier list, in which case they're (oddly) far from using their best stuff under their own brand.

Aye, I'm not 100% on that but I was actually looking into this the other day myself as I've seen them popping up more on other sites.

I think it's worth keeping an eye out, there's some gold units I'd take a gamble on at certain prices but I'd avoid their bronze like the plague. Some of the pricing can be viewed as breaking into a new market, but there's a couple of bits and bobs I'd not touch with a barge pole.

Edit: The "Gold" rated unit I kept seeing is actually going up in price since I last checked too, and I don't think it's even ATX 3.X.
