Hey there guys ,

I'm sticking together a new build (My first serious build) and I could use some advice. My old rig has is just not cutting it any more and I'm afraid nothing is up to scratch in terms of running today's games. The only thing worth salvaging out of it is the CD/DVD drive and the SSD .
Everything else I'll be buying new .

So I've started by buying my case and my CPU :

"The Corsair C70"

"Intel Core i5 4670K, S 1150, Haswell, Quad Core, 3.4GHz, 3.8GHz Turbo, 1200MHz"

My motherboard is going to be a z87 (Still yet to decide which one)
AND
My GPU is still also to be decided however it will be more likely around the 660ti Benchmark . If anyone knows a card around the £150 (new or used) please let me know .

What I'm confused about is what PSU would I require ? Is there any danger in going too high ? I don't want to go overkill or do any damage to components.

Would 650w be ample ?
Also what's the difference between modular and ... not modular .. ?

Thanks !

Sonny

Ok thanks guys . That PSU is actually the one I was looking at .

Will you be going SLI/Crossfire?

I probably won't be just yet as I have absolutely no experience in it .
I've heard that the work/money put into SLI and Crossfire isn't worth the benefits. ?

600w will be more than enough for current systems.

650ti Boost through to 660ti should be what you are looking for, unless you can stump up the extra for the 670 (which would be well worth it IMO).

You guys are awesome ! Thank you so much for taking the time out to help !

May be a little more suitable.

I'd rather a single GPU personally.

I think I'm swinging more towards this to be fair , I really trust Corsair's product and would rather go with a brand I know and trust . Also IT'S A CORSAIR CASE !

Really excited to get this up and running , haven't put together a new machine (that's my own) in around 4 years !

The c70 arrives tomorrow morning ! :D

The XFX PSU should also be very reliable as they are made by Seasonic.

But the Corsair is plenty powerful enough, modular and cheaper. :)
