also what ram would i need to upgrade that you recommend.

if you have UK vendors i would prefer them.
sites i normally use are

no competitor links.

and if you have sites im def interested in finding new ones.

anyway im sure you tech minded folk will help me upgrade my system.
also fyi games i usually play are cod, moh, bf etc.
im not a gamer by a long way but i do like to play.
thus time to update my system.

Mick

deadone please remove the last two links as these are competitors and recheck the FAQ.

That first link doesn't bring up your PC!

HD 7870 now down to £119 and the OCZ 500W for £30.

I'll link them for you when I'm on a comouter.

Googling your pc it looks to be micro atx pc. Do you have standard atx psu or PS/3?

Rhyswh 7870 need at least descent 600W

Get 7870 if your case can accommodate it, and decent 650w which will stretch your budget a little.

or 7850 with the Ocz 500W will be £100 but check compatibility with the case for size and psu

500W will be more than enough for a 7870!

I just realised though, the 7870 is not £119! For some reason on my phone it shows me the prices without VAT!! Sorry about that. Looks like you'll have to get the 7850 then. Unless you could stretch the budget by £40?

YOUR BASKET
1 x VTX3D HD 7850 X-Edition 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card £119.99
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £35.99
Total : £167.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Or

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7870 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H787QN2G2M) £143.99
1 x OCZ CoreXtreme 500w '80 Plus' Power Supply £35.99
Total : £191.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

The GTX650ti doesn't even come close to the 7850. It's the best card by far in your budget.

As far as I can tell everything should fit in the case. That's the only issue you would have with the GPU. But looking at the dimensions you should be fine.

thank you guys for all the help.
Rhyswh out of the 2 cards you linked too what would be your preference.
you have sold me on the psu.

Mick

thank you.
both the 7870 and psu are going to be my next purchases.
going to get some ram also to boost from 4gig to 8gig

thank you once again as i appreciate the expertise.

out of curiosity once i have the psu, if i ever wanted another card what should i be looking for to make sure its compatible.
or coul di just buy and card thats PCI Express x16 compatible.

You have to buy the exact same card. So if you're going for the 7870 then later on you would have to add another 7870. If you're planning on doing this I would get a different PSU.

YOUR BASKET
1 x HIS HD 7870 IceQ X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (H787QN2G2M) £143.99
1 x Xigmatek Tauro 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £49.99
Total : £205.38 (includes shipping : £9.50).

Or if you would rather get closer to your £100 budget get this instead.

YOUR BASKET
1 x MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards £119.99
1 x Xigmatek Tauro 600W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply £49.99

Do you mean to add another card in Crossfire or...
Do you mean to add another different card in the future?

Former: You'll need a bigger power supply, preferably 750w.
Latter: You'll be fine with the PSU you currently have, unless it's very power hungry like a 290/X.

Yeah your PSU is now going to depend on which card now and if your planning to crossfire. 600W would be enough for 2 x 7870. But anything above that I would suggest going 700W+ just for peace of mind.

as for crossfire i dont think ill be doing that as i dont consider myself a gamer.
occasional gaming for me and general use, internet, Photoshop etc etc.

i dont mind spending that little bit more if need be on gpu (£200 max) or would 2 x 7870 be enough with the new psu you posted or would it be better to get a slightly better card.
dont want to scrimp on something ill need down the road so to speak.

regards
Mick

If you have £200 just for the gpu then go for the 7950. It's better than 2 x 7870 which would be more like £300. And the PSU would be fine. Any decent brand between 550-600W will be more than enough for a single 7950.
