Hi All

Whats the general feedback on :

850W Silverstone SST-DA850, 100% modular, 70A on single +12V rail, 80% efficiency

I know there cases are 1st class but i love the fact that the psu is 100% modular 70A is enough for me any use them or rate them?

The ocz 700w is cheeky small print is only 50A as oposed to 72A plastered over website...anyhow think just about every has no missed the point of thread:p i was asking if Silverstone are good as i never hear people talk about them on here always be quite and corsair..the 100% modular is what attracted me:D

Do you know who actually makes it? It's likely to be specced by silverstone and built by someone else.

100% modular isn't so great, you want the 24 pin cable attached really. Avoids problems with the resistive heating of the additional contact between cable and psu, and every box needs an atx power cable.

I've not heard anything about silverstone supplies. That's probably a bad sign. If it costs more than the corsair/be quiet, get the corsair. If it costs less, ask yourself why and whether the implied lower quality is worth the risk.

Cheaper <> better with psus, about the worst thing to save money on.

I also looked into Silverstone PSUs and I saw the SST-ST85F. Basically the same but bigger fan (less noise) and the 12V rail is split four ways instead of a single one. Plus I found it to be cheaper.

But instead of buying that I'm going to wait for the HX750 and see what reviews for that are like, since Corsair have a 7 year warranty on it!! Then again the SST-ST85F is only £5 than the Corsair..

Hope that opened your choices, SST-ST85F is still 100% modular btw, but cheaper ;)
