PSU at the top of the case

I haven't bought a new case in a long time now, a long long time. I was looking into buying one recently, but most of the cases that interest me all seem to have the PSU slot at the bottom as opposed to the top.
Is this pretty much the norm now or are there some cases out there that still place the PSU at the top. I understand that there are probably distinct advantages to having it at the bottom but I am a creature of habit and I like my PSU at the top of my computer.

If you have the psu at the top of the case, hot air will blow into the cpu area.

So its not thermally advantageous, and decent cases targeted towards enthusiasts will generally have the psu at the bottom.

INWIN Griffin is at top.

Advantages to top: Psu draws air through case from bottom. Nearer CPU, so can remove some heat from that too.

Advantages to bottom: Case isn't top heavy. Most cases nowadays have top fans, so the psu draws air out of bottom where it otherwise might not have any fans.

Less stress on frame too!

but there isn't much difference, and INWIN griffin is Only £35 :D

It is an advantage to place the PSU at the bottom rather than the top and most case manufacturers are doing it now.

Much prefer PSU at the bottom. I remember one of my in one of my old cases that the chassis started to bend from the weight of the PSU. Not good. :o

Also cable management should be a lot neater and less of a birds nest. :)

yea certain lian li's allow you to mount at top or bottom

The main reason is said to be it increases the lifespan of a power supply as it doesn't get as hot

Lucky you didn't get into the habit of having single core CPUs, AGP graphics cards, DDR Memory, connecting both HDDs and CD-ROMs via IDE cables and to a lesser extent floppy drives. Cuz they'd be annoying habits to have these days if you wanted new kit.
:D

I've noticed more cases with the PSUs mounted at the bottom since the introduction of top mounted fans (and rads). Since I quite like top mounted fans it makes sense for me to mount the PSU at the bottom. That said I don't think it's a key feature I'd look for when buying a case, but might be a deciding factor if I needed to narrow a choice down.

Then there's the 'compromise' of putting it in the middle at the back, like this. But that's seems to be a fraction outside of your price range.
:)

You just described my setup before about two weeks ago :D although CD rom is still mounted using IDE :P

Just a fraction, but my god that looks nice I might have to up my price range :P always loved a good compromise even if it is over the top for what I need it for.
