Alright guys

The other day my PC shutdown suddenly and i undid the case to have a look. I left it a day and plugged it in and the PSU went bang. Since then if I put in a replacement/old PSU I get no power at all, no LED on the mobo or anything. I haven't come across a system dying like this, the system and the PSU are about 5 years old however. You reckon it's dead for good? I dont know whether to gamble the £50+ for a new PSU or go for a shiny new product.

Sounds like the PSU might have taken other parts with it :(
I'd try the cpu/ram/gfx and other bits n pieces in another rig if you could.
I wouldn't go trying the PSU on another rig tho.

To be fair I have been thinking of a laptop recently, the old rig is a P4 3.0Ghz and 2GB RAM so it has been acting a little slow, am i right in thinking the Intel i3 chips are the best compromise speed/price wise?
