Hi guys, Ive just been re-sleeving my psu 24 atx connector and accidentally pulled one wire apart from the metal pin. Will the computer be running fine until i get this fixed? and any ideas how to attach it again? solder?

Thanks!

Its green, yeah im thinking the same, can it just be soldered on then?

Sure, I have a electonics background so something like that I could do in my sleep.

Strip back some of the insulation, twist the wires, tin the end of the wires stick into the pin and heat and add a bit of solder at the top where the wire goes in, the capillary action will draw the solder down into the pins hole.

Isn't the green just for the power on button? It's therefore safe to run the pc without it if you have to, although you would need to short the bare green wire to one of the blacks to get it up an running.

Yeah i just checked with what you said and tried the power button and it took a few good presses for it to power up the pc, thankfully though i have another button on the mobo which does it fine so i guess im okay for now. Ill have it soldered as soon as though..

Doesn't make sense? If motherboards are wired like I think, the switch on the motherboard would suffer from the same problems as the case switch as the issue is with the power supply wire.
