So I recently purchased the following psu http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-030-OC&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=1098&name=OCZ%20StealthXStream%20700w%20Silent%20SLI%20Ready%20ATX2%20Power%20Supply

My system is as follows.

Core I7 920 stock speeds,
Corsair XMS3 3GB (3x1024MB) DDR3 Memory 1600MHz
Zotac Gtx280 AMP edition.
CAVIAR SE16 500GB 16MB SATA
GIGABYTE S1366 INTEL-X58

I have noticed when having opera browser open with several tabs my PSU starts to buzz or whistle lightly, if I shut opera down it stops immediately. however if I run crysis the buzzing gets louder and continues to buzz until the game level loads and then it stops completely. I have tried it on Far cry 2 and I do not notice it as much. This is my second PSU now my first was a Corsair 650w and that made an even worse high pitched sound. This is a lot better but it still can be annoying, should I RMA this? Or do I need more juice?

Thanks

Only time I heard a buzzing PSU was on a mates PC, basicly it was struggling to provide the juice....

Although it was powerful enough, it was struggling to provide the gfx card with the amount needed on its particular rail...

FSP Epsilon based PSUs suffer from high ripple if actually loaded (so you changed to worser PSU) but I doubt you can achieve above 300W peak draw.

Could be also graphic card or some other component and even some kind weird interference. (in SPCR forum they found out that even some HDD could make some PSUs to whine)
Try to use testing tools for loading various components separately for seeing whose component's load affects to noise.

My BFG800W-ES PSU's fan ticks when idle. The second I load prime or F@H, it stops. Guess my pc is drawing so little from it that the fan has to run that slow, causing a ticking noise. So frustrating considering the price I paid for it :(

Guess what Im trying to say is, even though you may spend little on a PSU, doesnt mean the top ends dont have their problems. Only PSU's Ive never had issues with are the PC Power & Cooling. Get one of them instead if the one you have is defective.

SPCR has found such noises from most fans when undervolted heavily.
But after all didn't you want too much oversized PSU with high speed fan?
