PSU buzzing noise! What should I do?

Hi guys.

I recently installed a be quiet! Dark power pro 650W power supply in my computer, and whenever the power switch is on, the psu makes a buzzing noise. When I turn the computer on, it becomes louder and my hard disk has also been making more noise ever since. What should I do?

Shut down PC, unplug mains, discharge residual charge, leave for a bit before replacing. It's about to pop and when it does kiss your Asus P5Q Pro goodbye.

No seriously it might not take any hardware with it (that's only happened once with me). Usually when they pop it's just the PSU.

It's not the cost of human life that bothers me... The loss of computer components worries me more.

My PSU did what you describe a few months back, It was indeed on it's way out. Best to be safe than sorry and replace the PSU now rather than taking a risk and having it blow and take your motherboard with it....

Same symptoms as my psu, was squealing as well then went bag few days later. Didn't take any of the components out with it

Get shot of it now. Not worth the risk to wait. If less than 12 months old, insist on an RMA.

Any funny noise like what you describe is definitely a fault. Return it!

Never skimp on a PC build by buying a cheap PSU. Always keep PSU quality high in a custom rig. When a cheap PSU dies, it doesn't have the protection circuits to save your kit.
