For some reason my psu has started buzzing. It's not al the time but mostly when i've been on my computer for a while and it seems to get louder the longer i'm on here.

Anybody know what's up?

It's a coolermaster real power m620

Hi mate, the longer you are on the computer the higher the temp of the psu will get = turning up the speed of the fan inside the psu (will happen automatically) hence why your hearing the noise louder after being on the computer a while, try giving the pswer supply a clean with some compressed air to get rid of any dust that might have build up on the psu fan :)

Another musical PSU...
Is it coming through the speakers or actually from the PSU? Low frequency buzzes might be transformers, high-pitched squeeks power transistors or voltage regulators. Not much you can about either but it just might be interference with the sound card. Any warranty on the PSU?

I just got a collermaster 700w psu today and its doing this too... only in games though. hopeing for a replacement.... pain in the neck to get it all sorted though

My psu makes a hum when its idle but I put that down to the inverter not being under load, it's lasted 18 months this way from day 1.

It does sometimes produce a high pitch squeak when graphically intensive apps fire up.

I don't worry about it, you should the noise the inverters at our DR datacentre! ;)

Yeah maybe it would be okay but its really loud and very annoying when on games and all i can hear is the PSU making this awful noise :P

I actually have the exact same problem with the akasa PSU I'm using and I know it isn't interference from any of my other components since it didn't have this buzz when I installed it (it was a part of a complete system rebuild) and it only cropped up after about a year of usage (and it wasn't even heavy usage) and most of the times it sticks to striking up a buzzing tone in the evening (mostly around the time I go to bed) and it's been around 6+ months since then and it's still going strong but I am planning on removing it once I start upgrading again (once I have the money).
