Got a bit if a query about the length of the cables on PSUs :)

Basically, the case I bought a couple of years ago mounts the PSU in the bottom of the chasis, not the top. The power cable that supplies the CPU with it's own juice on the motherboard is very taught since it has to go over the rest of the hardware in the case and also round the base of a pretty hefty Thermalright CPU cooler.

Getting the connector on this cable into the board is a total nightmare since it's pulled so tight and the heatsink is so damn big. I'll probably look at getting a new PSU soon, so I was wondering if any of them come with longer than average cable lengths, or are they all the same standard length?

Take a look in the cables section of the shop, OCUK sell Akasa cable extenders for both the CPU cable and the main ATX multicore. Cheap as chips (certainly cheaper than a new PSU) and they work a total treat (using CPU one at the minute)

Just looked on OcUK based on your advice and that's exactly what I need!! Nice one guys!

Something else while I'm on the subject of PSUs - do current models come with more robust SATA power connectors? 2 of mine are unusable because the cheap flimsy plastic connectors fractured.

If the case in question is an Antec P180 then note that once you get the extender you can route the power cable under the motherboard tray (through the holes in it) and back up at the other side. Makes for very neat routing.
