PSU cable question regarding ferrite rings

is it safe to totally remove them on the corsair PSU's to braid the cables. they are only on the pci-e connectors and they look like ferrite rings wrapped in heatshrink???

If they are there they must be important. You can remove and fit elsewhere on the cable though. Never seen a ferrite on a pci express power cable before.

just googling apparently they are on all the HX and AX series psu's but only on the pci-e connectors

Can I tag a PSU question on here. Page 26 here it talks two different types of psu, I have the older type I think:

So I got 10x2 and 2x2 clipped together now for main power and cpu with 2x2. I take it I do similar on a ud5

Yes, 24 pin (2x10 + 2x2) and 4 pin (2x2) unless your PSU has an 8 pin (2x4) in which case use that.

Ok simple enough, thanks. No 8 pin but shouldnt affect a 920 I think

Ferrite cores help to prevent spikes in voltage. Best left in place.
