Just a quick question, can you use the modular cables from one Psu on another.

I'm getting a new psu and just wondered if i need to bin my old ones or whether they are worth keeping as spares.

I wasnt sure if they are maybe specific and can only be used on the psu they came with.

You will probably find the plug that goes into the psu will be different if its a different make. Mains cables are normally standard though.

If they are interchangeable, be wary with pcie cables, that they are a thick enough gauge, as pcie cables from a lower power unit may not be the same thickness/ quality.

I'll probably just play it safe then and get rid. Dont want to chance anything.

Thanks

If you are swapping to the a unit made by the same company or at least the same OEM then they may be compatible. Just watch out for different pin outs on the unit itself and possibly check with a multimeter or circuit buzzer to be sure.

Most PSUs come with an abundance of cables anyway so I'd doubt if you'd need to keep them.
