hi just ran psu calc and it says a 600w psu will be fine for the following.

i7 2600k @ 4.5ghz
4xddr3
3 ssd drives
1 7200rpm hdd
gtx 680 @ stock
asus gene v mobo
5x 120mm fans
1x liang ddc1 pump

i set it to 100% peak load, so was wondering to save money would a 650w/750w psu be fine and a 850w overkill ?

thanks

My System hasn't gone above 400 w from the wall.

I have 5 120mm fans, 16 GB Ram (I need to update my sig).

So the liang ddc1 pump and the difference from the GTX 670 to the 680 isn't gonna be much.

I've seen dozens of people who buy an over-specced PSU with the idea of SLI in future - 90% of them never bother. Unless you're actively intending to go SLI later, I really wouldn't bother. Normally, for the price of a second 680, you could sell your own 680, add the two together and just buy a single more powerful card to replace yours.

650W is absolutely fine for your rig. You'd probably get away with 550/600, or potentially even a 500W if you don't push the rig too hard - but 650 is the theoretical safe number for your CPU+GPU, to allow for a little capacitor degradation and a prolonged run of 100% usage if you had a problem.
