Afternoon

Hope you are all having fun this afternoon, i have just been reading in a computer mag that the Nvidia 8800gt 512mb graphix card uses around 263 watts is this true? if so will my new antec 650watt psu run 2 of them a 95watt quad core, hard drive, dvd player, water cooling and mother board or can i expect problems?

The reason i ask is im currently running 1 8800gt 512mb, Q6600 quad core 95W, motherboard 2 hard drives and 2 dvd players, from a cheap 300w psu and have had no problems,

If it is going to be a problem i dont mind buying a new psu just like to know these things.

Cheers in advance for any help:confused:

A single 8800gt should only use around 80w at most so you can quite happily ignore Nvidia's figure, or just assume that they are factoring in an entire system's worth of power use.

Cheers. i thaught the figure was strangley high.

I have never realy looked at wattages when building a machine as i dont know what is the correct figure for each component. im happy to see how it will turn out

On a side note, it is not adviseable to use a "cheap" psu. If they fail they tend to take out other components with them. The psu is the single most important component in a pc and it really does not pay to skimp on them.
