Hi

I'm looking for a modular PSU that will meet the needs of my pc spec.

WD 2x320GB RAID 0
WD 2x74GB RAID 0
1 external 250gb HD
Win 7 Pro 32bit/ XP Pro 32 bit
Q6600@3GHZ
eVGA 9800 GTX+ SSC @ SLI
eVGA 780i
4GB PC8500 1066MHZ DDR2 KINGSTON RAM
Corsair H50 Cpu cooler
Creative Sound Blaster FATAL1TY Pro Series

My current PSU,i got 3 years ago. and it cant handle my 9800gtx's(had to use 2 molex to 6pin connectors) so I'm just using one at the moment

either of those look really promising.

I'm looking to upgrade my machine next year some time, so ddr3/mobo/ram and possibly new graphics cards.

It does seem overkill spending a lot on a PSU, but if its top of the range and has good rep then i guess i have nothing to lose?

does anyone else have any ideas on which modular PSU i should go for? is the Enermax a top/safe bet?

Your help is much appreciated

cheers

Those enermax ones are decent but they come at a price. Have a look in comparison at XFX and Seasonic ones, they are meant to be very good

If no budget go with the enermax, if you want to save some money go with the xfx 750/850 believe they are made by Seasonic.

my budget is ideally under £200

i just want a modular, high end psu that will be capable for the next gen graphics cards and of course cpu's. I have a coolermaster cosmos case as well.

I have xp and 7 pro in 64 bit as well so the RAM can be utilised...

Update:

Do you think i should still go for the enermax?

i have my eye on the corsair ax1200.

again, its trying to find one thats gonna suit future motherboard/cpu/vid card needs..

so i guess you cant really go wrong with corsair/enermax/antec psu's?

edit: new graphics cards(now) require 6+2, new cpu sockets will require 8pin connectors if im right in saying?

any help is appreciated thanks,

Intending to have it run two of those PCs of starting post?
Max power draw of those parts would be something like 450W, probably below 400W in games.

I wouldn't recommend Enermax 87+ PSUs as those models have had quite high ripple readings in reviews for a supposed high end PSU. (if anything ripple is the thing first to go out of specs when capacitors age)

can't go wrong with corsair :D
Eypatch should be used just in front of one eye, not both:
Wouldn't trust their new CX-serie which is generic overspecced low end stuff.

Thanks for your reply

Which energy efficient modular psu (that is futureproof) do you recommend then?

My current psu is from map lin - 700w, (sli capable 3 years ago, so it doesnt have 4 x 6pin pci-e connectors, and with the molex convertors, it struggles)

cheers
