I need a little outside opinion on a PSU choice please :)

Looking for a Modular PSU, will be needing at least 650-700W as ill be running Crossfire shortly.
Current system specs:
2600k @ 4.4 max
Asus P8P67 Pro
ATI 6870 (adding a second later (unless anyone suggests better?))
1 SSD + 2 Sata Drives
A few Case and CPU fans

Im currently looking at:
Corsair HX 750
CM Silent Pro 850
OCZ ZX 850

Thoughts or recommendations?

I wouldn't go with the Silent Pro. I'd stick with the new OCZ ZX, Corsair HX, XFX, and Antecs.

For crossfire 6870, 700W+ sounds about right, 850W will give you more options. The XFX Black 850 is a great buy, if it was in stock :) It's up there with the Corsair HX.

You can shop around of course. Corsairs Antecs and XFX are available elsewhere.

I only have experience with corsair so I cant judge. Just found the XFX black 850 for £97 though... Grrrr.
But the OCZ is Plus Gold. Where as the XFX is Silver. This make much difference?

Corsair overall. They have better support, long warranty, more experienced and their HX / TX / AX line are well proven and kind of a yardstick. Corsairs are more expensive, I suppose you pay for the badge, but it's not necessary a bad thing.

Both Corsairs and XFX are manufactured by Seasonic (with some exceptions) and based on a similar designs, which is why they perform so closely. Both are quality units (bothin performance and build quality), but in general you can't go wrong with Corsairs. Antecs and BeQuiet have also a great reputation and shouldn't be discarded. The Antec New TruePower are also great.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with XFX, they are a good deal actually given their performance. It's a bit like the choice between getting a BMW / Merc, or a more exotic equivalent import that is better value for money but has less badge awareness and assurance.

On another note, the Corsair TX750 V2 and TX850 V2 are beasts as well. Even the previous generation are commandable units. Equally, the XFX Core series are a close match.

Not modular however, so wouldnt suit me... but they look good anyways

And Aha, a decent pic of the OCZ, and its fully modular, which a lot of 'modular' PSU aren't (which annoys me)

I think it might be the OCZ... Fully mod, decent price, 850W, and Plus80 Gold certified.
