PSU Clicking after being under load.

Hi guys, just wanted to get people's thoughts on my issue. If I've been playing a game for pretty much the whole day, when I stop playing and just browse the net or leave the pc idle, a slight clicking noise is coming from the PSU.

I haven't noticed any impact on the pc's performance or anything like that. I'm just a little paranoid as my last pc died due to a faulty PSU.

PC is pretty much brand new, only two months old!

PSU is a superflower:

Additionally, I am looking to add two new Graphics cards, gtx 770 or so sometime in the future, will this current PSU support that, and if not what would be a good recommendation for a PSU if I was to replace.

What is your current system spec?

You could just get away with 2 cards in SLI but a 700-800 would be preferred.

I have the same PSU, and also the same problem. I am not sure when it happens though. I think it happened twice, with a few weeks in between.

It gives a static sound, even when I turn off the PC. When I turn on the wall socket (PC is off, but power is on. You just get a few LEDs switch on, like those of a pen drive and motherboard) you still hear it.

It sees to happen when the PC is on for a whole day. If I turn off the PC and leave it off for an hour, it seems to be ok.

I did some google search, and I don't think its something alarming. Its only a problem if its constant.

I was meant to do a thread too, but now I don't have to.

My current system is this:

Intel i7-4770k
16GB RAM
Windows 7 64 bit
Gigabyte AMD 7950 Grpahics 3GB RAM
Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC motherboard

Nothing is overclocked. Haven't really felt the need to.

Yeah, this is it. Basically as soon as you stop playing a game or whatever, the sound comes. It doesn't last super long or anything, but it is loud enough to know it is there.

For me, if I keep my PC on it stays. As I said, it only stops if I leave it off for an hour or so.

I have a similar spec lol. 4770k (not overclocked), MSI R9 280x (which is similar to your card I think), 16GB RAM, Windows 8.1, Gigabyte Z87X-UD4H motherboard.

I actually can't afford to replace the PSU at the moment, and it doesn't seem to be having any negative affect on the pc itself. So my plan is to basically buy a new PSU in a few weeks, something with more than enough power to support SLI cards in the future.

Guess it could just be a quirk of the PSU model. It isn't mega loud or anything.

It doesn't seem to anything serious. Just a 'feature' of the PSU. No need to replace anything (unless you want to go to a larger wattage for crossfire).
