Hi there!

I just got a new psu from here!

Just a straight replacement for old one, however 1 of the motherboard connections was a bit different!

The cable was 8 pin and the socket on the mobo was 4 with the remaining 4 blacked off with a little cover!

The 8 pinn cable did seem to split into two so i attached it where the old one was with the other 4 pins of the cable not connected!

The pc ran fine so im guessing this is ok?

Sorry if this post makes no sense! Hope someone knows what i mean, just want to be sure that this connection is ok!

Also a side note, how does one check cpu/gpu temps etc?

Thanks :)

Hi there,

What you need to do is remove the black cover and this will reveal 4 more pins. Then connect the two halves of the 8pin cable together and insert it into the new 8pin plug on the motherboard.

Your system should work fine with just the 4pin power connection in, but if you do some overclocking then you will want the extra connection in.

Ok thanks! Well i want to overclock my q6600 and flash my 6950 soon so if it connects ill do it! So it wont do any harm if all 8 are plugged in? Thanks!
