Hey guys, my psu just went bang this morning and there was smoke coming out of it. I've taken the power cable out and was wondering what to do next? Is it safe to take the psu out?

I would leave it there for about an hour just to be safe, then take it out and replace the psu, just hope it didnt take anything else out with it

If its unplugged from the wall, its safe to. Then pray it hasn't gone down with any other component/s. Latter depends on what make PSU it is/was?

If you speak to the retailer and give them the approximate order date then they may be able to provide you with a copy of the receipt.

Hopefully it should be fine without causing any issues for the other components but it is safe to remove it provided it is unplugged as hp7909 says. :)

Perhaps, it depends on the circumstances, if I touched the PSU and it was hot then sure I'd leave it but that is just applying a bit of common sense to the situation. If there are no obvious signs that there is still a problem then a PSU is safe to remove as soon as the power is off. :)
