So I’m pretty sure my PSU died last night. Left my pc on last night. Quite often do. This morning there was a well funky smell and pc was off. From my untrained nose the smell seemed to be coming from the psu. How likely is it that the rest of my computer is borked?

Depends on the psu. What make and model is it? If it's a decent psu then hopefully the safety systems will have kicked in. If it's a poor psu then it could be anything from you have been extremely lucky and nothing has fried to losing everything.

It was an Antec HCG 620w which I bought based on good reviews back in 2013, has been running fine since then.
I have ordered a new super flower 650w from ocuk so hopefully that comes tomorrow and I can get back up and running. Fingers crossed it’s just the psu that has gone.

It should be fine, i remember when my seasonic sparked and popped. The protection it had saved all my components!

Plug everything in at once and if it doesn't work start removing things one at a time. Your HCG 520 is a Seasonic built unit so hopefully the protection will have kicked in and everything will be fine.
