I’m about to launch into a Conroe E6600 new build. I’m not going to be doing massive overclocking or running dual SLI/Crossfire. The power checking websites suggested a PSU with 295/310W. Allowing for some expansion I was going to buy a Tagan TG430-U15 430W as it was modular and quiet. I then worried that there wasn’t enough spare power so considered the Seasonic S12 500W Silent. But there were a few people on the forum saying it wasn’t that quiet after all. I was then considering the Enermax Liberty 500W until I read about the 520W Corsair HX Modular today.

I’m now totally confused – which would you choose? Help!

They are all good PSUs, the Corsair is a relatively new brand(in PSU terms) to me but they are supposed to be very high quality, I reckon any of the PSUs would be fine but personally I'd probably opt for the Enermax.

Thanks.

As this is my first build do you think a modular psu will make things easier or not much difference? 'er indoors is starting to get worried at how complictaed it all looks! :D

the corsairs are very high quality and rails stronger than the seasonic

I doubt it will make much difference whether you opt for modular or not(technically non-modular means that you don't have to connect the cables to the PSU so that is one less thing to do but it is very simple either way). PCs now are very easy to build, if you can build a Lego model then you can build a PC, there are good guides on the internet or you can always ask on here and someone will help if they can :)
