I'm attempting a new build, I am thinking about going for a 570 gtx with an Antec TruePower New 650W Modular PSU, Is it worth spending £60 more for a Corsair 850W HX Modular PSU in case I decide to go SLI in the future?

Thanks.

If you plan on doing heavy overclocking on both CPU & GPU then the HX850 may be the safer option long-term. However, you may be able to get away with a decent 650W PSU if you don't plan on overclocking.

Thanks for all the replies guys, so if I plan on overclocking the Cpu and single Gpu, it would still be a better idea to get the 850w?

Look up load power consumption for GTX 570 SLI. 650 watts won't be enough.

The OP could probably get away with a good quaility 650W PSU but would be stressing it hard depending on whether overclocking was involved or not.

Guru3D reviewed a pair of GTX 570s with a heavily overclocked Core i7 965 / X58 system and the system drew a total of 578W under stress from the wall socket.

If the OP wasn't planning on overclocking anything, then that figure would probably drop to around 500W, which is comfortable for any decent PSU.

+1 for an 850w psu, im running overclocked gtx 470's on a corsair hx 850w, coupled with an i7 @4ghz, the 570's will use a bit less power than 470's, but better to have a bit more power to allow for overclocking.
