Hi
I’m running the following and would like to know if 850w is enough? Current 1000w psu has died.

Asus TUF X99 Sabertooth MB
I7-5820K 3.30GHz
2070 super
Team Group Elite 32GB
Samsung NVMe Solid State Drive
4 x HDDs
Blueray drive
External bueray writer
24" Monitor
Cooler master cosmos s, with the big fan on side of door and about 3 other fans running

I suppose the only other issue is that I’ll probably upgrade my MB and cpu in a couple of years time so will that have an impact?

Cheers

Thx, have seen a 1000w Corsair hx1000i available but looks like it been out for a while. On another site it’s not available and listed as end of life.
Like you say probably better off getting a top end 850w or wait until some 1000w psu’s are available.

cheers.

850W will be fine. I'm running 750W in an i7 6700k, 2070 Super 1x mechanical HDD, 1x SATA SSD and an NVME and 4 case fans and an AIO. You'll be fine.

your current rig is probs barely over 450w. 1000w would be overkill, even for an amd 5950x and 3080. Good quality 800w and youre golden for cpu and gpu like 3000 series

Running a 5950X and a 3080 on a Superflower Leadex Gold 650W with no trouble whatsoever.
Come to think of it don't nvidia themselves say 750w for a 3080? It's like a 360w card no? And 5950x is like 150w with no oc... That's like 500 already.

My PSU did 715W in review testing before safely cutting power and the card rarely jumps over 300W even in games. I do have a 750W seasonic I can swap if I do have any issues but as I said no issues yet. I do cap my games at 100FPS in games to match my monitor refresh.

Well that's a good point actually. It'd be an almost impossible scenario for gpu and cpu to both be pegged at 100% for any period of time and yeah there's spike protection for those rare moments anyway (in decent psu)

What's your gpu /cpu usage out of curiosity?

Please do
GPU is normally 100%, not sure about CPU, Will add that to Afterburner later tonight.
Please do. I'm actually in the market for a new psu. Fan is just slightly too loud but if I can sell my evga and have enough to get like a 650 platinum or something I probs will. And I intend to have your exact same cpu/gpu in the next few years (hence why I bought an 850w monster haha)

wow, cpu at like basically nothing lol.was thinking the temps were quite low but i guess quite high for only 10-20% ish usage...

Anyway certainly great to hear you dont have any issues... I can't help but wonder what would happen at 100% usage on both though hahahah
