PSU extension cable?

Is it possible to use this a anextension cablefrom the 12v on psu to the mobo, even though it has 8 pin isit possible to only use the 4 pin?

Yes you can use it for 4 pin, you plug the lead from the PSU in one side of the socket and plug which goes into the motherboard is detachable.
