PSU Failed

Hi all -

My PSU has died this morning, an Enermax 620W. The computer won't turn on - though the motherboard power/reset lights are illuminated.

I've had no errors with the system, no crashes or hardware failure reports. My guess is that the PSU has failed...

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good PSU? I'm a software developer and use my desktop extensively. XFX ProSeries 850W?

Many thanks.

Thanks for the replies -

No fans spin up at all. I do agree it's odd that the mobo has power, but I assumed this was 12v DC comming off the PSU.

I'll pick up the XFX in my way home tonight but test my existing PSU first using the link above. I'm hoping it's a fault with the PSU and not the mobo.

I replaced the PSU, but the same thing is happening. Power trips as soon as I press the power button. Reset CMOS, took everything out apart from the CPU. So I think it's a fault with the mobo.

I've ordered a new Z68 board and i7 2600 :)

I'd take everything out of your case, reset the CMOS and try booting with just the basics, put the motherboard on top of your motherboard cardboard box and test it on that.

Could be shorting out in the case somewhere.

I would also have tested the PSU first by taking it out and doing the paperclip test

Enjoy your new board though!
