Hi, over a year ago members on these fine forums helped me pick out components for my first build and I believe I got most of them over OCUK. The build went fine but recently I've upgraded a few things and I believe I've run into a few problems.

My original build consisted of:

- Gigabyte GA-MA790XT-UD4P Motherboard (Socket AM3)
- AMD Phenom II X3 720 Processor (Black Edition)
- Gainward 9400GT 512MB Graphics Card
- 640GB Western Digital (Black) Hard Drive
- G.Skill 4GB RAM DDR3 at 1600MHz
- 2x Akasa Apache Fans
- Corsair VX550W PSU

But recently I've needed to upgrade a few items on it, and because of that I get frequent shut downs and then I just get a constant beep from my PC. I looked around and apparently the constant short beep signifies a problem with the power supply. This does make sense seeing as how recently I've added an extra 1TB Western Digital (Green) Hard Drive to it for storage as well as upgraded my Graphics Card to a Sapphire Radeon HD 5670 1GB for gaming, so I'm assuming maybe the 550 might not be enough to handle the new system spec and if so would getting the Corsair TX 650W PSU that's on sale at OCUK be enough to fix the problem and handle everything well?

I don't plan on upgrading any more parts since next time I'll be upgrading I'll be getting an entire new PC. The price for that Corsair one is around my budget and my current Corsair one has been great to me before the upgrades.

Or unless I'm being silly and the problem lies in another place completely, in which case, I would appreciate any other advice you would give. Any more information needed that I haven't posted, please let me know and I'll get on it.

Thank you in advance.

Ah, cheers. So the problem might be elsewhere then, bugger.

Anything I could do to check or narrow down the problem?

Your current PSU is more than enough for your setup, but does not rule out a possible fault with the unit, can you test another psu just to rule this out.

Also what happens when you put the old GPU back-in the system.

I'll try to get my hands on another PSU, as well as try to boot it with the bare minimum like Seraph suggested and with the old GPU and test it out to see if I get similar problems when running it. I'll get back to you with the results later seeing as how this might take a little while to test.

Thanks for the helping a newbie guys, I really do appreciate it.
