Just a little question for anyone that can help...

Just setup a new build and I have a wire coming out of my PSU that the manufacturer says is an 'rpm control'. It's a 3-pin style fan connector and I'm wondering if I can/should connect it to my motherboard (and if so, where?). The 2 chassis fans are already used.

I have a theory that since the PSU has 4 connectors for 4 fans (without rpm control) do I connect the rpm control to, say, cha_fan1, then power all the fans through the PSU, giving them rpm control? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

Thanks.

Looks to be a monitoring cable only. I would expect it to be plugged in to a spare header on your motherboard and just report the speed of the psu fan.

If you don't have a spare then just leave it floating.

It's the BeQuiet Dark Pro P7 850w and about 8 years old :D. I've just upgraded everything and can't remember if I plugged it into my old mono. I think I'll leave it hanging as I can't see anywhere on my AsRock B450 ITX board where it should go.

I just thought it might let the mobo control the PSU fan speed as it says on the BeQuiet site "rpm control". Oh well!

Thanks :)
