Ive been looking at various builds in my spare time and noticed a few builds with the psu positioned so the fan is facing up. On my build mine is facing downwards as i have a grill and a dust filter, but i was just wondering if there are any benifits on having the fan facing upwards?

Hope that all makes sense

Thanks

fan up if you are placing your pc on a heavily carpeted floor, otherwise you want the fan drawing in nice cool air from out side your case.

if you've a grill, dust filter and presumably feet on the case to keep it off the ground your fine the way you have it

Yeah, the only time I would prefer to have it facing up is when your on a carpet.

Doesn't make much odds dude as long as the PSU can breathe ok. If the case has a window I'll often mount the PSU fan up as it can look "cool" to see the fan.

When the PSU is mounted fan down the heavy duty cables tend to be closer to the mobo tray. In turn it makes it easier to route and hide cables as you have more length to play with. In some cases it might save you having to buy extensions.

Yeah thats what i was thinking, Ill be keeping mine facing down i was just curious and abit confused as to why they had it facing upwards
