PSU fan noise enough for a return?

It's a Corsair HX650 from 2009, the professional range has a guarantee of 7 years so it's well within date.

I noticed a swishing noise when I was rummaging in the case, went through every fan and the H50 pump turning them on and off but no. Finally checked the psu and yes, when stopped the swishing goes away.

Have a listen:

I stopped the fan in the clip using a bit of rubber tube.

Is an annoying swishing noise a viable replacement reason?

It's not that much louder than the rest of my system but the fact that it changes tone makes it distinguishable from much further away.

It would be about 10 mins work to replace the fan but I'm not all that keen to lose 5 years of warranty over it

Sounds like the bay place said it was out of their 1 yr guarantee period and all remaining guarantee was with corsair themselves. Which is a shame as whatsitsplace send a free courier to collect and return it.

Corsair says yeah, just waiting on reply on where to send it.

Hope to hell its not got to go to the US, cost and time away =

I'll have to dig out my tiny mITX and live on a measly E8400 and 5570 while my tabletop tower is powerless. At least that will go some way to justifying why I spent £600 building and then never using it...

I'd swap the cards over but the ITX runs on a flex atx 220W psu and that's a bit dodgy for a 4890 when the graphics get heavy. That and there's only 1 slot of space in the ITX
